The Cubs are reportedly looking to acquire relief arms to solidify their spotty bullpen, something the Red Sox haven't mastered to this point either.
The Red Sox called up Che Hsuan-Lin before Saturday's game only to option him back to AAA Pawtucket following the game. The move back to AAA signified a possible move coming, whether that involves a trade or not hasn't been announced yet.
Marlon Byrd has had success at Fenway Park in a fair sample size. In 14 games he's gone 17-46 for a .362 average with 6 extra base hits at the Fens. Byrd can also play all three outfield positions though his defense isn't stellar.
If the Red Sox feel they need an addition in the outfield this could be a viable option but the fact that Boston's bullpen is still finding it's way leads me to believe it won't go through on the Cubs' terms. The Sox simply don't have the depth in their 'pen to part with a reliever at the moment--unless they're willing to take Chris Carpenter back, which is highly unlikely.
