The lefty came through with the best outing we've seen from a Sox starter in quite some time, allowing just 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB and striking out 5 over 6 IP for his third win of the season.
On the offensive side it was "La Luna" (as Don Orsillo likes to call him) Dustin Pedroia charging the Red Sox with a pair of hits and an RBI in the third inning to get the Sox on top early. The muddy chicken now carries a 13 game hitting streak and shows no sign of cooling down. Be prepared for a patented Dustin Pedroia laser show, this is his favorite time of the season.
Daniel Nava collected two hits in the game, giving him 4 hits in 8 at-bats since being recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket and Cody Ross hit an absolute bomb over the monster in the bottom of the sixth to give the Sox an insurance run.
Andrew Miller, Vicente Padilla and Alfredo Aceves put together three no-hit innings in relief of Doubront to take the Sox to the finish line. Miller hasn't allowed a run in 5 IP since being activated from the DL earlier this week and Bobby V appears to be working him into the seventh inning quite often.
The Red Sox aim for a series win tomorrow night when they wrap up the four game set with Daniel Bard matched up against former Sox pitcher Justin Masterson.
